Events in West Northamptonshire
Northampton
Armed Forces Community Afternoon on Friday 16 June
In the week leading up to Armed Forces Day, West Northamptonshire Council will be hosting an Armed Forces community afternoon in the historic grounds of Delapré Abbey. The event starts at 12:30 and will feature a series of activities and workshops:
- 12:30 to 2pm - Workshop with VR Therapies
- 2pm to 2:45pm - Talk from the Frank Bruno Foundation
- 3pm to 4pm - Workshop with Models for Heroes
- 4pm to 4:30pm - Talk from Nick Wilson, local veteran, speaker and ambassador for mental health and disability
Local Armed Forces charities and support services will also be on hand to provide advice and guidance. Those attending include:
- Pets as Therapy
- Veterans Community Network (VCN)
- Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)
- OpNova
- Goodwill Solutions
- Citizens Advice
- Northamptonshire Adult Learning
- Public Health
- Royal British Legion
- 103 Bn REME
Delapré Abbey will also be offering wellbeing walks and fishing taster sessions. All activities are free of charge, but prior booking is recommended.

Armed Forces Flag Raising on Monday 19 June
On Monday 19 June at 10am, the Armed Forces Day flag will be raised outside of County Hall in Northampton town centre. If you would like to join West Northamptonshire Council in marking the occasion, please assemble outside of Sessions House, Northampton, a few minutes before 10am.
Armed Forces Day on Saturday 24 June
Northampton Town Council have arranged an Armed Forces Parade which will make its way through the town centre. The parade will step off at around 10:00 from the top of Abington Street and dignitaries will take the salute at the Guildhall steps. We are delighted to say that the Town Council will be taking the opportunity to sign the Armed Forces Covenant on the day too.
The event is supported by 103bnREME and the Royal Anglian Regiment, the RBL, local cadets and veterans as well as Armed Forces charities. There will be stalls throughout the morning on the portico of All Saints Church, and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.
Daventry
Armed Forces Flag Raising on Monday 19 June
On Monday 19 June at 10am, the Armed Forces Day flag will be raised outside of West Northamptonshire Council's Lodge Road office. If you would like to join in marking the occasion, please assemble outside of Lodge Road a few minutes before 10am.
Towcester
Armed Forces Flag Raising on Monday 19 June
On Monday 19 June at 10am, the Armed Forces Day flag will be raised outside of West Northamptonshire Council's office at the Forum. If you would like to join in marking the occasion, please assemble outside of the Forum a few minutes before 10am.
Brackley
Community Event on Saturday 24 June
Brackley Rugby Club have partnered with the Brackley branch of the Royal British Legion to host a community event in celebration of Armed Forces Day. You can expect music, food, drink, a bouncy castle, assault course and even a rifle range. This is a family friendly event and entrance is £2 per individual or £5 for a family (2 adults and 2 children). All donations go to support the Brackley RBL branch. Find out more on the

Events in North Northamptonshire
Kettering
Summer Saturday Community Event on Saturday 24 June
On Saturday 24 June North Northamptonshire Council and Kettering Town Council have partnered to celebrate Armed Forces Day at the Summer Saturday community event held in the Market Place from 11am to 4pm.
During the day, there will be a food and drink market as well as free entertainment for everyone to enjoy. There will be a demonstration from the local cadet units, along with some historic vehicles on site. The Royal Air Force Association and Royal British Legion will also be participating in the celebrations.
Raunds
Armed Forces Flag Raising on Friday 23 June
There will be a small service with local school children and a flag raising event at the Town Hall in Raunds on Friday 23 June at 11am.
